Preamble
22 Yards: The Cricket Club at UMBC shall be subject to the jurisdiction
of the University of Maryland Baltimore County’s Student Government Association,
as well as to the President of the University and his/her designees.
Article I - Name
The name of the organization will be "22 Yards: The Cricket Club at UMBC",
hereafter referred to as the Cricket Club.
Article II - Purpose
The Cricket Club is established for the expressed purpose of providing a
focal point for the promotion and enjoyment of the sport of cricket.
Article III - Qualifications for Membership
Section A Membership is open to any enrolled university
student, faculty, staff, or alumni who is interested in cricket.
Section B Membership to the Cricket Club may not be denied because of race, color, age,
sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, disabled veteran or
veteran, national origin, or religion.
Article IV - Officers and Elections
Section A The officers of the Cricket Club shall consist of a president,
a vice president, a secretary, and a treasurer. These officers
comprise the Executive Committee.
Section B
The duties of the officers shall be as follows
1. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Cricket Club.
He/she shall maintain the power of appointing all club officers and
be responsible for the organization of all club events.
2. The Vice President shall represent the Cricket Club in all SGA meetings.
He/she shall preside at all meetings and events that the President
cannot attend.
3. The Secretary shall be responsible for observance of rules during
meetings, minutes of the meeting, adherence to other protocol, and
new-members and membership related issues. In partnership with the
Treasurer, the Secretary shall also be responsible for maintenance
of the club website.
4. The Treasurer shall handle all dues, accounts, finances, and funding.
In addition, the Treasurer shall also be responsible for maintenance
of the club website in partnership with the Secretary.
Section C The term of office shall be from the beginning of March to the end of February
the next year.
Section D Election of officer shall be held on the last Monday of February each year.
At least two week notice shall be given before the election meeting. Nomination
shall be initiated from the floor and elections done by a ballot. The person
receiving a majority vote will be elected.
Section E Any officer may be removed from membership in the Cricket Club by a two-thirds
vote of the general membership. Any officer removed may appeal to the general
membership. Said officer shall be considered reinstated with two-thirds approval
of the members of the Cricket Club.
Section F Any vacancy which may occur in an office shall be filled by an appointment
by the remaining members of the Executive Committee pending ratification at
the next group meeting.
Article V - Meetings
Section A Regular meetings shall be held on a monthly basis.
Section B At least seven days notice shall be given for each regular business
meeting of the organization.
Section C Special or emergency meetings may be called with less than two days
notice by the Executive Committee.
Section D The meetings shall include a quorum, order of business and disposition
of minutes.
Article VI - Amendment Procedures and Requirements
Section A Robert's Rules of Order (Revised Edition) shall be followed by the organization
in all cases involving parliamentary procedure when it does no conflict with the
constitution.
Section B The rules may be suspended by a two-thirds vote of present membership.
Section C This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present
during an organization meeting provided one week's notice is given. All
amendments must be approved in accordance with Student Government Association
policy before becoming legally binding.
